tVn Liar Game Korean Drama

At long last, in 2014, a drama made it to my "to post" list. Introducing Liar Game, the Korean remake of the Japanese very popular drama, Liar Game.

I had a short review on the Japanese liar game here: http://beu-tilicious.blogspot.com/2011/05/japanese-drama-liar-game.html and I loved the japanese version!

So I was really excited when I read that there would be a Korean remake of it.

The main characters:
Kim So Eun as Nam Da Jung (main leading lady)

Did she do a good job? Mmmmm, yes, I guess. She blends in very well but not outstanding. I prefer Erika Toda's version of Nao, all innocent and cute with those lovely eyes of hers.
Kim So Eun was a little bland as she blends in very well with everything around her.
Her physical traits remind me of Shin Se Gyung, however, I do prefer Kim So Eun over Shin Se Gyung. At least Kim So Eun has a large and vast variety of physical expressions that don't bore to death.

Lee Sang Yoon as Ha Woo Jin (main leading male)

Eeeks, I loved the male lead, Shota Matsuda, in the Jap version. Lee Sang Yoon's execution was mediocre. He did not perform badly, but perhaps there was a lack of focus on him that led to him to being overshadowed.
It was a refreshing change to see him act icy and cold. In my personal opinion, I do think he can perform better. It did not reach the ice cold depths of the Alaskan winter, but perhaps the icy winds in Melbourne.

Shin Sung Rok as Kang Do Young (main villain)

Well, this guy stole the limelight!!!!!!!
His execution was splendid!

What a villain. One that mystifies and draws you in again and again and deeper and deeper. I'm sure that he gained many fans and popularity with this role. Many articles and comments out there are so intrigued by him that there is somewhat in- depth analysis on his character and why he turned out to be such a psychopath with a twisted mind. People have gathered to comment and discuss and talk about Kang Do Young.

The plot and story of how the villain was connected to the two main leads is a new development from the Jap version. The writer did a great job of keeping everything tightly wound and revealing and releasing the truth in anticipated progress. Perfect.

Shin Sung Rok cannot be applauded enough for portraying a masked maniac. His whole life seemed to be preoccupied with only one thing. That is to continue his one and only desirable memory of childhood with the two leads in a game they used to play.

He called himself a failure and the last thing he wanted before he ends his miserable hellish memories and life, was to play, just once more, a game of "truth" and "trust" game with the two leads.

He is to be pitied and empathized with, even with all the evil and murderous deeds that he committed. He wins the hearts of the viewers with this trait..

General:
Ok, it was an very enjoyable drama and I was hanging off my seat through most of the episodes.

But there were bits and pieces that i could not understand, could not put together.
The main factor to be blamed is the subtitles. The subs were not full, more like bits and pieces everywhere. Some of the important bits i had to decipher on my own. What a bummer.
For eg, why did Woo Jin's mother commit suicide? what did she lose that she had to end her life?

Overall, it's a remake worth watching with new and different developments from the original. A piece well executed and yes, the yummiest villain in all time.
Love Shin Sung Rok.

Oh ya, this is one drama with a perfectly executed ending where most, if not all, the loose strings are tied and most people are accounted for. I must say again, the pacing of the drama was excellent.

I'm having major withdrawals with this drama which i haven't had in a long long time!

Rating: 9/10 a must watch!

Korean Drama Review: Master's Sun

I finished this drama a while ago...............it was alright, zipped through it in no time. Light and funny. But seriously, didn't hit the high note for me. Wouldn't re-watch this.

It's fun and entertaining but nothing spectacular. So ji Sub was yummy but that's all.

Nothing much to say about this drama so i'll rate it straight away: 7/10.

Yes, it is watchable. But i prefer "Greatest Love", " You're Beautiful", "Secret Garden".

This drama is just ......well, plain nice. That's all.

korean drama review: The Queen's Classroom

oh have you watched this drama?
Just finished it and i'd say it was above my expectations.

Starring:
Ko Hyun Jung as Teacher Ma Yeo Jin

She's known to me as the face of Korea's cosmetic brand, RE:nk. I've never actually watched any of  her dramas, this is the first.
I must say, my first impression of her wasn't a really good one. I took on her physical qualities at first sight noticing only her bloated face (very!) and lack of a neck that seems not befitting at all on her tall and slender-looking body. She seems "off", kind of weird. However, as the drama progressed, i got used to it and didn't seem to mind the "weird" ET look.

Teacher Ma is like a witch, a demon woman. That's her nickname amongst the kids and in the school. She plays a cold as steel teacher with the weirdest way of teaching the kids. She teaches them not only academically but more on social values and ethics and her way of doing so is eccentric and sure does not look like she understands any of the children's needs. That is how it is felt on the surface. However, deep within she cares more for the children's well-being (emotionally which will lead to physical results), more than even herself. She uses the façade of a witch to steer the children in the right direction. In the end, she is always the victor, well able to conquer and eradicate all social inequality, ostracism and bad social behaviour.

The other stars of the drama are little children. The main child actor is

Kim Hyang Gi as Shim Ha Na

I've never seen her before, it's my first. And she is good. Really good. She displays poignancy and charm in her acting and i enjoyed her performance very much.

I've seen some of the other child actors before and most of them are good in acting, maybe, perhaps, possibly with the exception of this little guy:

Somehow i felt some of his parts were a little off, but overall still good. Some of his parts felt a bit pretentious , like we know he is acting.

I cried a lot with this drama as the story is so good. Plenty of hurdles, mishaps, misconceptions etc and each of them was tackled with a good ending. However, some of the "endings" were too lenient and too far fetched.

For eg, in one of those stories:
one of the kids had been stealing and putting the blame on our lead child actress. The thief even had the audacity to ostracise the lead child actress by getting things all mucked up and turning things around so that the lead child actress takes all the blame. Teacher Ma uses her eccentric ways to make the thief own up and the lead child actress stand up for herself. It was good, but the ending of where the thief was able to clear all conscience in just a short amount of time, and all the the other students forgave and so easily accepted the thief into their social circle again , is just plain ridiculous. How can such hurt and scars be gotten over so easily?
Well, that's just one of the not-so-realistic parts of the drama.

But all in all, the drama was good.

And the best part? Haha, you wouldn't have guessed, it's the background music!! Some fantasy, witchery background music that plays throughout the drama. I just love it! it fits so well.

My rating: 8.5/10.It's an underrated drama .

korean drama review: I Hear Your Voice

I just finished this drama and would like to pen  my thoughts on it.

Please be forewarned of SPOILERs ahead!

The 3 mains:
Lee Bo Young as Jang Hye Sung
Lee Jong Suk as Park Soo Ha
Yoon Sang Hyun as Cha Kwon Woo

I was impatiently waiting for the drama to finish airing so i could watch a marathon on it. I like Lee Jong Suk and Lee Bo Young. Particularly like Lee Bo Young for her wonderful performance in My Daughter So Yeong which i truly enjoyed.
So i was really looking forward to this one. Plus, i watched the episode of Hwasin featuring the three main characters and that got me more excited to start on the drama.

Eeek, my "nightmare" started. I never would have imagined that they actually really really paired Lee Jong Suk with Lee Bo Young. They look like siblings instead because Lee Bo Young looks, and in reality is, way much older than Lee Jong Suk. So it really turned me off.
I knew Lee Jong Suk had a crush on Lee Bo Young and i always thought it would be one sided since he is still in high school (not even in uni!) and she is already an experienced working woman nearing her 30s.

I thought it would be like High Kick Season 1 where Jung Il Woo had a one sided crush on his teacher that never worked out. I could accept that.

But not this! it was a ridiculous pairing and i highly dislike it. Why oh why did they spoil the drama this way. I would have truly enjoyed it if it wasn't for this ridiculous pairing. As much as i like both of them i cannot, i repeat, i cannot, accept them as a pair of lovers.

And every time they kissed, hugged, touched each other, looked into each others' eyes, i would start "gagging". I would grimace in "disgust". Yup, "disgust" is a strong word to use, but i gave it heavy proportion due to how much it bothered me.

I know, there are those large age-gapped couples around like Demi moore and Ashton Kutcher. I don't know why, i just cannot see Lee Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk as lovers. It gave me the shudders as if they were committing "sibling relationship" (can't remember the word for it!). Can you imagine your younger brother looking  into your eyes, wrapping his arms around your waist and starts french kissing you??

This coupling really gave me "nightmares". On the final episode, they were kissing intensely and that image made me unable to sleep! I wish i never watched this drama.

And what happens to Yoon Sang Hyun? Is there no love line for him? what a pity. He should've been the main pairing with Lee Bo Young, they look so much more compatible. And he has a rather cutesy character in the drama. Fun and cute.

And yet another flaw in the drama is this guy, Jung Woon In:

He is the main villain in the drama, Min Joon Guk. Yup, he did well. But why is he never dead? He keeps reviving and the whole drama is circled around this one bad character. The drama is about prosecutors and lawyers taking on criminal cases and the entire drama had like only one criminal case that goes on and on for 18 episodes.

This guy keeps popping up, threatening and frightening people, killing people and always gets away with it. Of course, in the end he gets what he deserves, but i think it would have been nicer to keep this mighty villain toward the end and have more other criminal cases to show off Lee Jong Suk's inner voice reading skills.

It became tiresome to watch because it felt repetitive with no new ideas/criminal cases.

Rating/conclusion:
Personally, i would not even recommend this drama.

However, if i were to put the main couple issue aside, it won't be that bad, i'd give this a 6.5/10.

PS: i dislike the Cyrano agency couple even more! Father and daughter french kissing.... ewww. I gave up on that drama.

Aah, what should i watch next to erase such horrendous kissing memories ???

korean drama review and thoughts: my daughter seo Young

Ta Dah, just finished this drama and it's time for a review.

This drama runs 50 episodes long and finished airing in March 2013. It's in the melodrama, romance and a touch of family zone.

Just thought i'd give it go, and yup, it was good. The title of the drama sounds "old-fashioned" and boring, so don't be fooled. It's not the plot or storyline that is unique, but more of how it was brought about; engaging and page turning.

The main characters are:
lead actress, Lee Bo Young as Lee Seo Young

To romance lee bo young -- Lee Sang Yoon as Kang Woo Jae

The plot  and storyline is quite cliché-d.  Very poor woman (Lee So Young), who saves every $1 and penny, meets rich guy (Kang Woo Jae) and develops a relationship to which the parents of the man vehemently objects to. They go through many hardships to be together, including personal mental and emotional turmoil to see if they really  love each and need each other.

In between the main romance, there's family issues whereby Seo Young and her father have a broken and untended relationship which cause further complications and is the root of a time bomb for Woo Jae and Seo Young's marriage.

I really love to watch the father. I'm not sure why, but Chun Ho Jin (as Lee Sam Jae), did a great job with all those emotions vividly and abundantly displayed for us viewers. Well done Chun Ho Jin. The love and sacrifice he had for his daughter Seo Young were all piercingly touching. The guilt he piled on his shoulders was so heavy that he seemed to be crawling on his knees most of the time. He had a selfless and very sacrificial heart for his children.

Well, what i love best from the drama are not the main characters, but the sub ones. I love watching Park Hae Jin and Choi Yoon Young. Damn! these two are just too cute!

Twin brother of Seo young -- Park Hae Jin as Lee Sang Woo

To romance Sang Woo -- Choi Yoon Young as Choi Ho Jung

Oh my, this couple is as cute and delicious as any iced vanilla cupcake there is. Choi Ho Jung literally glues herself to Sang Woo ever since she met him. And she's been doing that for quite a few years! She's so cute and innocently sweet it's hard to resist her charms.
When they finally became a couple, it was even more entertaining to watch! Haha, they are just so sweet. I love them.

The most boring parts are the ones with CNBlue's Lee Jung Shin. I know he is very pretty and all, but his parts are boring. I usually fast forward those.
Even the scenes of the parents of Kang Woo Jae are better in terms of entertaining level.

Overall, nice drama, and if you have time, you can watch all 50 episodes, if not, just skip to the parts with Lee Sang Woo and Choi Ho Jung. That'll keep you entertained enough.

List of OST winners and losers (Korean dramas) 2010-2012

Winner: Midas  2011

starring Jang Hyuk, Lee Min Jung, No Min Woo.
OST very very well done and thumbs up to all the background music adding the perfect height to each and every scene.
I really enjoyed the drama as well. A very good corporate finance drama. A must for those with CF background.

1st runner up: Secret Garden 2010
"That woman" sung by Baek Ji Yong - won over so many hearts.
Wonderful song and lovely background music.

2nd runner up: Haeundae lovers 2012

Hello boy by Bebop is just great and Led Apple's smile again, both are very catchy and up beat songs.
Kang Min Kyung's farewell is very good too.
And the cute and funny background music whenever comical scenes come up is the best ever! I can't get over the tune in my head.
Great acting by Kim Kang Woo and Jo Yeo Jong. I enjoyed the drama a lot. So far the best romantic comedy drama for 2012. Definitely a keeper for 2012.

3rd runner up: Heartstrings 2011

I love the main song sung by Yong Hwa, the best in the entire series! Other than that, the rest were alright only, especially the ones sung by Park Shin Hye, did not really enjoy those.

Loser no.1 : My Princess 2011
The OST for this drama was downright disappointing. With such great stars/cast, they could've boost the drama with a fantastic OST.
Worst of the lot and worst of all dramas that i've ever watched.
Dr. Jin, which also stars Song Seung Hun, had some very poor background music as well, but there were some other song sung by Jae Joong that were good.

Korean drama: Ghost SBS 2012

Ghost SBS, 2012

This belongs to the crime and investigation genre, which i usually skim right pass. Hmm, however, not sure why, but i decided to give this a go and clearly it was well worth it.
The plot is so tightly and enthusiastically written, and each episode keeps you clinging to the edge of your seat, with extra strength magnets drawing you to watch the next episode and the next and the next........

This is really really good stuff! and i highly enjoyed the roller coaster cringing ride with lee yeon hee and So ji Sub.

Starring:
so ji sub as Kim Hyun Woo/ Park Ki Young

It's the first time i watched So Ji Sub though, i wouldn't say i'm highly impressed, but i am not deeply moved either. His acting was rather mediocre here but still, it managed to pull through. I don't know why, but i prefer Daniel Choi so much better. Daniel Choi was very much livelier and will have you bound to the screen.

Daniel Choi as Park Ki Young (legendary hacker)
Very good acting and great performance. Sometimes i wished it starred Daniel Choi instead of So Ji Sub as i find Daniel Choi's acting in this drama so much  better. Great hacker performance!

Lee Yeon Hee as pretty detective Yoo Kang Mi
Oh, she's a beauty! and i think she did well in this drama. Though there were no romantic relationships/lines in the drama, she played the role very well as a trusted and well able-d partner to Park Ki Young/ Kim Hyun Woo. Her role does not seem to be easily disposable and i applaud the script writer in weaving her character as a stand out without those pesky romance.

Kwak Do Won as the "mad cow"
Haha, this plump Ahjussi is hilarious to watch. He adds in the fun and furious factor and as his nickname is, a mad cow. Impulsive explosive bomb-like temper. An invaluable character in the drama!

Im Ji Kyu as Byun Sang Woo
Haha, this little guy, although playing a small-ish role in the drama as a colleague in the crime investigation team with rest, is the happiest to watch. I remember him in "the greatest love" as Cha Seung Won's cute and small manager and he did a pretty good job there too. It's hard not to notice him.

Lee Won Geun, one of the baddie hackers, a flower boy
Apparently , this little flower boy stirred interest due to his looks. And yup, he did look surprisingly "flower-boyish" in the drama. He also starred in the "moon that embraces the sun" as the younger Woon. He looked a whole lot better in this drama, very young and sweet. Hah, but looks sure can fool. He kills mercilessly in the drama and his evil smirks are a must see.

The biggest villain, Eom Ki Joon as Jo Hyun Min
Eeeeks, this guy does not have the "villain" look as far as i remember. In the past dramas like "dream high", scent of a woman, can't live with losing, miss ripley........ he had the good guy images. So this drama is a highly refreshing change from goodie to baddie. And yes, he did very very well. Fantastic performance. He played the character so well, deluded into his own revengeful world, he tries to protect his interests and destroys those in his way. The way he plays it, doesn't make you feel hatred toward him, nor would you want to slap him. You just kind of want to see more of him and those evil, wicked tricks of his. Good performance. Very well played.

Rating: 8.5/10 , a must watch!
(lowered rating as i must say, i won't rewatch it nor keep it)

best Korean Drama 2012: Queen In Hyun's Man

Spoilers ahead!

oh my god!!
2011-2012 had been a rather dull year for korean dramas.
Until...............queen in hyun's man!! this on deserves two thumbs up with two legs up as well!! I loooove this drama so much.
Chemistry between the leads is simply AMAZING!! Jjang!

This drama is highly prized for its non-cliched uniqueness and everything about it is perfect! Script was good, storyline was fantastic, climax is superb, directorship/cinematography is excellent, and Ji Hyun Woo is the best!~~
It gets you magnetised in your seat to watch episode after episode non-stop. You just cannot stop.

Extremely compatible, perfect chemistry leads:

Ji Hyun Woo as Kim Bung Do
This big guy, and i mean big (standing at 188cm tall!), is simply amazing to the max in this drama! it's no wonder he wins over so many fans with just a smile. Seriously, he does not have many facial expressions in the drama and that gives his smile even more mega watts when his eyes start twinkling and crinkling. This, this only happens when he is with Choi Hee Jin ( Yoo In Na).
You can literally taste the tenderness and warmth in the air when he looks and smiles so tenderly at Choi Hee Jin. Killer! killer!

Yoo In Na as Choi Hee Jin
Eeeeek! have you ever seen such a cutie? She's perfect for the role. Her facial expressions, gestures and overall physical presentation really hits the spot. Her aegyo is perfect and just too cute. Nothing over the top yet "heavy" enough to drive you nuts! haha. Who could resist such a cute pout? who could resist the mischievous twinkly smile? Even if it doesn't melt your heart, you would basically forget her wrong doings and just let it go~ that's how powerful her "Cuteness" is.

The drama portrays Kim Bung Do, a man living in an era 300 years ago, zipping back and forth between his time and the present 2012, where he meets our cute Choi Hee Jin. The story goes on with how they fall in love and their strong fate and love brings them to the end.
“Queen Inhyun’s Man’ is a romantic fantasy drama that tells the story of a Joseon era heartthrob scholar who travels in time for the reinstatement of Queen Inhyun, but falls in love with an unknown actress in the future.(credits to kpopfever.com)

The director loves to present different angles of a scene in one shooting which is rather cleverly done and adds a new dimension to us viewers. For example, see the pic below, Choi Hee Jin is getting her hair and makeup done in this scene, and the screen presents 4 different angle shots of the same scene. Pretty unique.

There are plenty of split scenes too that add a touch of "cinema" feel to it, showing different simultaneous happenings at the same time, like these:

The drama boasts plenty of rom-com moments in the present time and yet good solid kingdom treachery/rebellion and action in the past time.
Get ready to be balled over with sugarcoated honey-ed cute moments that will make your heart flutter. Man! the chemistry between the leads is no joke!~
I'll try to post some snapshots here but as of now, just trust me,....watch the drama!

And the kiss scenes????? haha, you wouldn't believe how many kiss scenes there are in the drama and each one takes intensity level up one notch until it reaches the end,,, whoaaa,,,,,.....
First a smack on the lips, then more smacks, then car kiss, then full on french kissing, stepping on toes kiss,  more lovey dovey spaghetti eating kisses (lady and trump?), tie pulling kisses.............heck, do i need to continue? Watch the drama.
The best loved tip-toed kiss:

The ‘tippy-toes’ kiss took place when Yoo In Na, who was 22cm smaller than Ji Hyun Woo, started to stand on tip toes while exchanging a kiss and continued to creep closer until she had climbed on top of Ji Hyun Woo’s feet. The scene especially drew out its romantic mood through a one-minute-long long-take. (credits to http://enewsworld.mnet.com)

I love them.

Cutesy spaghetti eating kiss~~ yum!!

Heart wrenching sobs anyone? you'll be having heart aches for a day from episode 14 onwards. It tore my heart apart at this scene, Choi Hee Jin was sobbing tearfully learning of Kim Bung do's death:

ALL and i mean ALL her sobbing scenes are so very well done you can't find any flaws in it. They all make my heart twist in pain and my eyes well up in uncontrollable tears. Without knowing, you'll be bawling with hand-stuffed tissues. Bravo to Yoo In Na! she must've put in a lot of effort to be bawling her guts out in front of the camera. Bravo!

Ji Hyun Woo, apparently fell for Yoo In Na in real life too. Google Ji Hyun's Woo's confession and get a load of stuff on it. He confessed his love for her in front of fans and camera during a fan meeting and caused a worrisome stir.

I think they do look good together and yeah, fully support if they do go out in real life!

Rating: 9/10 must watch!!

Well i'm not sure what happened after that, will Yoo In Na accept his love?

PS: i favour this drama over rooftop prince, which was ok by the way.

Korean Drama : Feast of the Gods

This is a 2012 drama to be remembered!! I thought it was a light hearted drama. The name and the poster drew me to it as i like to watch cooking shows. The poster looked so upbeat and colourful giving the impression of a lighthearted, heart warming comedy with a light touch of romance.

I was so wrong. This drama is full on melo and quite dramatic. All about mixed up childhood and harboured ill feelings and guilt. Romance was also full on but nothing light. However, one thing is for sure, the cooking scenes are so beautifully featured and very very colourful. Lovely!

The storyline wasn't too bad and the star of the show?? hehe, none other then............... read on .................with spoilers!

Starring:
1. Sung Yu Ri as Go Joon Young
This pretty thing just got prettier!! Her last drama in "romance town" was a  bummer, it was disappointing. But this one is really good. I think she performed very well and she was able to embody the fullness of her character.
Joon Young harbours no ill feelings toward anyone despite her traumatic childhood experiences. Being separated from her parents and growing up the hard way, she trudges through life with a very positive easy going heart. This pretty thing charms her ways into others' hearts so easily without her being conscious of her charms.
And guess whose hearts she manages to capture along the way???

two amazingly good looking hunks!! Can you believe it? two hunks!

2. Joo Sang Wook as Choe Jae Ha
Owww, aren't they cute in the pic?
Joo Sang Wook belongs to a well-to-do family from the prestigious authentic traditional Korean restaurant, named Arirang. Jae Ha and Joon Young were supposed to be childhood friends, but through twisted events, Joon Young was lost as a child and she grew up in a remote island away from the city.By fate, they meet while Jae Ha was on an errand in the island. Without knowing Joon Young's real identity, he was charmed by her lively ways and soon when Joon Young moves into the city to work in Arirang, he begin to be wholly captivated by her despite him having a girlfriend.

3. Lee Sang Woo as Kim Do Yoon
Aaaahhh!!
This is it! This is it! He's the highlight of the entire drama!! seriously, his smiles are just too captivating!~~~

This hunk of hunks never looked to hunky! I watched plenty of his older work and was never captivated by him despite his good looks. But in this drama, somehow , it must be the character of Kim Do Yoon so well written and portrayed, it made Lee Sang Woo stand out a lot! Like a screaming bright morning star!

Do Yoon harbours anger and resentment toward his only family member, his mother. And grew up with only one goal, to avenge the death of his twin brother whom his mother indirectly killed. He is very reserved and is a man of few words. His trademark? a slight raising of eyebrows and a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders speaks all.  Haha, i've never seen shrugging of shoulders as cute, but my-oh-my, Do Yoon's trademark shrug is soooo cool. He does not need to smile, he just shrugs his shoulders and walks away from any conversation leaving the challenger dumbfounded and best of all, irritated to the max.

With such aloofness and skewed purpose in life, he has no friends, and never lets anyone break into his personal perimeter..................well, that was until he meets Go Joon Young. This charming girl, like a witchcraft spell, enters into this personal space and more, touching and piercing his heart. He falls for her hard, very hard. And his purpose in life now encompasses loving only Go Joon Young. He cares not whether she returns his love, his only purpose is to love her. And man! does he do it so sweetly. The things he does for her are totally to-die-for even risking his life over deathly mushrooms that can cause him serious effects, and he never expects anything in return.

And he only only only smiles at Go Joon Young. When he parts his lips and reveals two perfect rows of white pearly teeth, any girl would definitely swoon! And his physique, hah, need i say more? Of course, korean dramas are infamous for their male stars going topless in the shower, so...................

4. Seo Hyun Jin as Ha in Joo
Owwww, she did a really good job.
It's the first time i laid my eyes on her and i think she did a really really great  job. She takes on the villain role in the drama and man, you just can't restrain from wanting to slap her left and right.
She's gorgeous as well! She does not have the typical Korean actress-cum life doll look with humongous large luminous eyes, too sharp and tall a nose bridge, and sharply shaved jaw lines.
Seo Hyun Jin looks amazingly gorgeous and natural with the smallish eyes and her very pale skin. The only Korean actress that i know who looks so beautiful with small eyes. Her skin is amazing! not a blemish to be found, not a wrinkle, not a line!  She's born in 1985 whereas Sung Yu Ri is born in 1981. Well, no wonder her skin is so much tighter and refined. I think she has unique looks and characterise Korean/asian small slanted eyes beautifully.

My opinion:
Great drama! so far, 2012 has been a boring year and there's nothing much i can update with. But with this drama, Korean drama seems to have made its comeback again for me.
It's a joy to watch and i mostly like to watch Kim Do Yoon with Go Joon Young. I root for them all the way! they make the cutest couple!

There are some fast-forwarding moments where the drama seems to tarry on some teary scenes and older adult challenges. But all in all, worthy of my time.

Rating: 7/10 (lowered rating due to many fast-forwarding scenes)

korean drama: what i've been watching

Lately, none of the Korean dramas kept me on my toes nor kept me burning late night oil.

So far been watching plenty.....

Dream High 2

pretty alright but nothing striking. I prefer Dream High 1 which was more energetic, more spell binding, more fun. I couldn't even finish the drama, still have 3 last episodes to watch which i shall if i have time.
Kang So Ra was less than adorable. Didn't like her at all. Jin Woon was eye candy enough and did a job well done for his first time acting.
JB was irritating and Park Ji Yeon was even more irritating.

I would give this one a 5/10.

High Kick 3

at first it was great and i looked forward to it every week, not until the last 4-5 weeks or so, nothing to look forward to. Storyline kept going on and on and on with no particular climax or interest development. And the ending was lousy. It was soooooooo bland and tasteless.
The development of the characters was immature. Kim Ji Won is number 1 on the list. Her character development was flawful (opposite of flawless??). How could they make her her vision so blinded? Aargh, i'm glad she did not have any successful romantic lines at all, it would be terrible.

Best character goes to Lee Jong Seok. From a nobody who think he has no future with poor grades to an aspiring hard working student who enters top school successfully. Nice.

Other than that, everything else seems irritating. Baek Jin Hee for example, very poor character who thinks more for herself. I always fast forward those episodes with Baek Jin hee.

Sweet couple award goes to Park Ha Sun and Soh Ji Seok. These two are really cute to watch and the development from friends, to one sided love, to successful couple is fun to watch. Also, their sweet antics with each other melts even ice cream.

I give more credit to High Kick 1 and High Kick 2, the best being High Kick 2 although it had the worst sitcom ending. High Kick 3 is the most mellow of all the seasons.

I would give this a 7/10.

Operation Proposal
I had high high hopes for this since its genre is under Fantasy and Romance. I love Korean fantasy dramas such as 49 days and Secret Garden. So i had great expectations for this. Moreover, the star Yoo Seung Ho is pretty cute.

Blech! this was a real disappointment. I hated it. The first few episodes were quite entertaining and i thought, yes, this one should be a winner for this month.
The repetitive nature of going back and forth in time space dulled it out. And although the story line and plot is unique and good, i guess the directorship's to be blamed. It bored me to tears. They couldn't carry out the unique storyline.

Nope, this one's a failure for me, i'd give it only 4/10.
