snail cream on behalf review: Secret Key set

As previously mentioned, i could not adapt well with snail creams. As such, i've given away my set of Secret Key's snail products to a male friend of mine. He does not mind trying new products especially those from Korea.

So after a three~four month intensive nightly use, i've gotten his permission to ramble on his findings and results from Secret Key's snail set.

What he's been using:
Toner, Emulsion and Repairing Cream.

The set consists of snail mucus and EGF ingredients.

Alas, but i did not take before and after pictures of his skin if not i could post it up here.

The snail set worked great on him!!

I could see a clear visible difference. His skin is now not as "dirty" which means skin tone has evened out. He even looks "whiter" and more radiant. The best thing is, there is radiance. Radiance from skin becoming more elastic and resilient. He is in his early 30s and with such improved skin texture, i can say it is amazing!

Considering he only uses it at night and not even with the essence, he is getting good results from the set. He is not as keen as us ladies in putting on too many products on the face and this three step skin care routine is more than enough for him to handle. If he had the option, he'd much prefer a one-step skin care! haha, guys being guys. He also spreads it to his neck and eye area as he's not fan of having a different cream for that.

Well, snail creams do work after all. Maybe not for me, but it really works having seen the improved texture on my friend's skin. It's anti-aging and makes skin more firm and elastic, whitens and evens out skin tone, provides regenerative and repairing properties to enhance skin  texture. This is really good stuff! Oh ya, this one has EGF ingredients in it, not only snail mucin, so it must be this plus factor that helps skin improve so much.

Affordability:
 very affordable compared with many other snail creams. The whole full sized set of toner, emulsion and cream is about 40000 wons only. And it sure lasts. After three/four months of usage there is still a lot going. So it is economical and affordable.

Secret Key has since came up with a new gel-cream for those of us living in the tropical with humid hot weather:

And now has release an upgraded version of the snail cream: Prestige snail cream at 47000 wons!
Wow, the prestige version looks great. With the pictures of the changes and skin improvement at the bottom, i'm so tempted to try this!! Smooths out blotchiness and whitens skin, it even helps those nasty nasolabial folds!
Apparently this is in preparation for the upcoming cold winter weather in Korea so i guess it may be quite heavy. This is just released and a very new product so i could not find any reviews on this new upgraded prestige snail cream.

So what are you waiting for? go give secret key's snail products a go, you'll be in for a lovely surprise!

Snail Creamzzz................... review + rambling

 it is now the snail cream craze going on in Korea. There are so many brands coming out with snail creams and i have not tried them all.

Here's little overview on the benefits of snail cream:
(taken from http://www.acnescarscream.com/heal/81237-1129.php)
When applied to clean skin, the snail serum will fuse with your skin cells and:
* Promote the natural healing processes of your skin.
* Enhance the skin's ability to recover from the effects of dangerous agents and traumas caused by accidents.
* Dissolves dying cells, and abnormal keratin plugs, and uses their amino-acids and other elements for the rebuilding of healthy molecules to replace blemished skin.
* Triggers the orderly repair and regeneration of flawed and sun burned skin cells.
* Promotes the development of the water holding carbohydrate molecules within the skin.
* Improves the capability of skin to emit antimicrobials and kill microbes.
* The bioactive ingredient is enclosed in liposomes for deep penetration into affected cells and slow delivery to guarantee your cells are furnished the bioactive molecules up to 12 hours after application.

I thought i'd do a review on 2 brands of snail care that i've been using........
1. Elishacoy: skin repairing snail cream, skin regeneration
2. Secret Key :Snail + EGF repairing cream

Packaging, size, description
Comes in similar coloured transparent/white tubs with cocoa lids. Both in heavy glass material.

Both are 50g tubs :

Elisha's has a description on the back in English:

Elisha's has 91% snail extract, but i'm not very sure about SecretKey's. I remember reading it in their official website somewhere in the Q&A section but i can't seem to find it anymore. If i remember correctly it is about 70-85% or so snail extract. So the percentage of snail extract is considered high. Secret Key's comes with EGF too! I'll update on the exact amount of snail extract once i look it up.

Ingredients:
Ingredients list for Elishacoy's:

It has slime extract that boosts skin resilience and flexibility and forms a healthy moisture barrier over the skin. Contains adenosine and peptides to enhance skin density and glow to prevent skin cell damage and strengthen skin. Hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and 12-tea complex provide ample moisture and nutrients and enhance the moisture retention capacity of dry skin that easily feels tight . Phyto-TF, an all natural plant extract, protects and calms tired skin.

Secret Key's ingredients list:
Nada! sorry i can't read Korean. But it sure has EGF and Snail extract!

Price:
Elisha's i bought at 22500wons but it they reverted back to the original price which is about 45000-49000 wons now. They gave me free samples of their snail mask and eye masks........... good value.
They've also come out with snail essence and eye balm now.
Circled in pink below:

price for secret key's:

i got it as a set with full size toner, emulsion, eye cream, essence for about 77000 wons. Very good value considering that they are large full sized products. It also came with freebies such as the hydrogel mask sheets and sample sizes of the products.
For the cream alone it is on 53% sale at 9900 wons and this has been going on forever! The original price is supposed to be 26000 wons but it has yet to revert to the original price.

Texture

 Elisha's is a thin almost emulsion-like cream in white that spreads ever so easily because it isn't thick. It's like a gooey pudding cream.

It absorbs pretty easily too.

The scent is a mild creamy scent. nothing overpowering. Overall, pleasant.

Secret key

Presents a thicker and richer white coloured cream.

It's much more thicker than Elisha's and you just need a little as it can be quite heavy for oilier skin types. I have dehydrated combo skin and i find that i only need a little to spread all over the face. The scent is strongly perfumed. My skin did not react to the scent. The cream somewhat calmed my easily agitated skin as snail extract is a natural anti-irritant and is good for acne skin types.
Again, it comes with a gooey texture thanks to the snail extract.

My experience
I've been using both alternating between them over my Hera skin care usually at night. I prefer to use Secret Key's at night because i find it much more oilier. Elisha's is a lot lighter in texture.
Snail creams gives a somewhat mattified velvet finish to the skin.

Both snail creams give a temporary effect of whitening and evening out skin tone. They also gave a "lifted" "tightened" feel to the skin! It is anti-aging! Secret Key's provide a more bouncier fuller feel, this would be because of the EGF ingredient perhaps.
I don't really have acne scars so i cannot testify as to whether they help in lightening them.
Did it refine my skin texture? I still don't see any of those effects yet. Perhaps i need to use a little longer.

Which do i prefer?
Secret Key!!  I did try out the whole line of secret key's: toner--> emulsion--> essence-->cream--> eye cream
I'll tell you more about the effects of using the entire line later.
Although secret key's snail cream was oilier and heavier and much more perfumed, somehow my sensitive skin preferred this over Elisha's more natural one.
Secret Key's doesn't dry out and "pull" my skin as much and it felt more moisturising. Elisha's really pulled my skin a lot and it left me with taut pulled skin.
Secret Key left me with bouncier and juicier skin. It seems to lift sagging skin too. It must be the EGF ingredient in it.
You can see from the pics above i have used much more of Secret Key's snail cream. Elisha's tub is still pretty much full!

What propelled me to purchase Elisha's was their ingredients list and the description:
"slime extract that boosts skin resilience and flexibility and forms a healthy moisture barrier over the skin. Phyto-TF, an all natural plant extract, protects and calms tired skin."

Reading that you'd thought that it'll be good for sensitive, easily irritated skins and provide ample moisture to dehydrated skin.
Alas, but it failed in all ways. It made my skin taut and dry. I'm not sure why. Having contained all that calming non-irritating and moisturising ingredients really contradicts the way it made my skin feel. Sad

Anyone out there had much better luck with Elisha Coy's snail cream?

However, i must add that Secret Key's, although preferred over Elisha Coy's, still gives me a taut and pulled feel. I wonder if all snail creams will this way. So i'm not particularly liking or favouring snail creams for now. I do not like how they pull my skin so.

ps: i'll not give up on snail creams yet and try other korean brands!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those who are Elisha coy's natural ingredient fans, it's snail line is having a sale on gmarket:
Limited edition repairing snail cream packaging 50g tub
skin repairing snail essence 40ml
snail repairing snail eye balm.
Secret Key has come out with a new Gel cream version
i suppose it'll be less heavier and oilier than the cream i'm using
gmarket haul 7
Gosh i've been purchasing more stuff form Gmarket, my oh my!!
EMS parcel box: this time it wasn't that huge, just a small-ish haul
It is more skin care products and samples................ again! I'm so into skin care ............. sigh. What an expensive hobby.
So what do i have here today?
More sum 37!! the newly released waterfull line's gel cream!
Sum 37 Waterfull: timeless water gel cream. This is newly launched and it is a much lighter version of the earlier waterfull cream. The waterfull cream has also been upgraded but i have yet to purchase those. I'm thinking to finish this first as there are quite large sachets compared to the normal sample size sachets.
The texture is pretty light. I have yet to really fall in love with this one though. It seems it does not plump up my skin as much. But i'll give it longer try before i conclude.
Pore Care
Next up, i've been dying to try some korean pore care serums. So far i've used western ones like :
1. cellnique's sebum gel - it seems to be softening my blackheads but the black and white heads still persists
2. and even the exorbitantly expensive sothy's skin mattifying solution. - this is far too drying and expensive
3. Also tried estee lauder's skin refinisher. - this clogged up my pores! i think it's because of the silicone or some other ingredients. This is also expensive!
What did i purchase:
1. Hera's pore control serum (right on the pic)
2. Sum 37's pore corrector (left on the pic)
I will try these out and let you know the findings. First impressions: i like Sum 37's much better because it is a clear slightly sticky gel like texture that hydrates and plumps. Hera's really mattifies and is slightly drying. But i'm not sure of the effectiveness of each. Gotta give both more time to tell. So far i have no sensitive reaction to both.
And still on my quest for the perfect sunscreen:
1. Charmzone's albatross powder sun spf 41PA++
2. Ohui's newly released: Sun science perfect sunblock red Ex, SPF50 PA+++ waterproof
3. ohui's newly released: sun science perfect sunblock black ex, SPF50PA+++ waterproof
Look out for my post on first impressions of these sun blocks.
More Hera stuff:
Hera's aquabolic balancing water and emulsion. I figured that the aquabolic moisturising (for dry skin) is a little heavy for my combo skin so i decided to try the one for oily/combo skin.
Also, item on right in pic, Hera's white program effector. Hera's whitening line concentrated serum. Unfortunately this gave me bumps and it made my skin itch! how sad :-(
Hera:
I'm so in love with the aquabolic line that i stock up on the preperfection serum, aquabolic waterfall serum and the aquabolic waterfall cream. I don't think i can spend a day without these, especially the first two items. And i'm not prepared to be in a panic position where i have none left  and have to wait for a re-purchase from gmarket to arrive. No! not a day without these.
Some mixed samples and purchases:
Erm, I'm not really sure who the man is and what's in the packet. I suspect it's a man's sheet mask. This was a free gift from one of the seller's. I'll have to find a time when my man have some time in his hands to try a sheet mask on before i can rip it open.
Next to the mask, in the jewel floral encasement is history of whoo's secret court lip and cheek balm.
I also purchased history of whoo's whitening sun cream which has a creamy texture with a very light pink tint to it.
The other 4 items on the front of the pic are free samples with history of whoo's hwahyun serum and sum 37's wrinkle corrector. Does anyone know how to use the wrinkle corrector?
A more detailed view of history of whoo's secret court lip and cheek balm:
Isn't the casing simply beautiful?? it makes me feel so royal using it! It's got sparkly bejewelled-like floral gold round casing. The colour of the lip balm is simply gorgeous! i tried some on my lips and the colour is like you just ate some refreshing strawberries! it sure doesn't look like you've got any lipstick on. It looks pure natural healthy looking reddish lips. Have not tried on my cheek though.
A description on the box:
especially designed for both lips and cheeks. it will add not only color but also liveliness onto your face.
Secret key's honey bee venom AC control serum:
It's a set of AC control spot serum using bee venom to kill of your acne and pimples. They gave a free tube of bee venom foam wash which i don't think i'll be using. Somehow i have a feeling that it will be very drying for my skin type. Also samples of snail repairing essence and snail repairing cream.
An inside into the AC control serum box:
2 serums inside, labelled serum I and serum II.
You have to dab it on your spot and acne. Can't wait to try these bee venom stuff and see those ugly bumps get poisoned and stung by the venom!!
Secret key gave me more samples:
Great stuff! i've been wanting to try most of these and i'm so glad they gave me a variety of samples.
1. Snail repairing bb cream
2. Moisture cream
3. deep cleansing powder wash, acai berry (to brighten skin)
4. deep cleansing powder wash, rice
4. more snail stuff: repairing cream and the repairing essence, both of which i have full sized products
That's all for today!
